The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) is a non-governmental international organization, established by UNESCO their goals are the promotion and development of research and teaching of social sciences, as well as strengthening exchange and cooperation between institutions and researchers from within and outside the region. Through these activities, CLACSO contributes to rethink, from a critical and plural perspective, the overall problem of Latin American and Caribbean societies.

University of São Paulo is the main institution of higher education in Brazil. The University is in 1st place in the Webometrics ranking that also evaluates only the universities of Latin America.

USP is in 127th place in the QS World University Ranking 2013 conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and is the only Brazilian institution to be among the top 200 in the world.

Consejo Europeo de investigaciones sociales de América Latina

The European Council for Social Research in Latin America (CEISAL), as an initiative to improve relations between Western and Eastern Europe. The intention was to create an area for academic freedom and critical exchange between the two regions aiming to develop the European Americanism.

fapesp Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo

FAPESP is a public foundation, funded by the taxpayer in the State of São Paulo, with the mission to support research projects in higher education and research institutions, in all fields of knowledge. The constitution of the State establishes that 1% of all state taxes belong to the foundation and the government transfers these funds monthly. The stability of the funding and the autonomy of the foundation allow for an efficient management of the resources that has had a sizable impact: while São Paulo has 22% of the Brazilian population and 30% of the scientists with a doctorate in the country, the state responds for 52% of the country’s scientific articles published in international journals.
